We believe that games can be a major positive contributor to a family's unity and happiness, and to a child's growth and development. Games played together are fun and engaging. A lot of "family time" activities end up being counter-productive, because one or more of the people participating dislikes the activity or is bored. But everyone loves to play a good game, and the social interaction and engagement of a good game brings family members closer together.

Similarly, an "educational" game doesn't do much educating if it sits on the shelf, unplayed. So we understand that games have to be fun first! When a game is fun, people want to play it - and so all the benefits of the game are dependent on it being fun.

Of course, a game can be the most entertaining thing in the world, but if it teaches bad values or is just a waste of time, then it isn't helpful to anyone other than as a diversion. At Legend Games, we believe that games can be fun and positive experiences for your family. The games we make are enjoyable, exciting, AND educational.

Our games do not glorify violence, nor do we pretend that violence doesn't exist in this world. One thing people realize quickly while playing "Age of Heroes" is that you have to defend yourself, but that starting fights for no reason is a very bad move. Our games include facts about the time period or subject of the game, and we also try to model the real history of our subjects as much as we can. A child who plays "Age of Heroes" will come away knowing more about the ancient world than he did before he played.

Our games encourage children to think strategically, to plan ahead, and to consider the effect their actions will have on other people. We also encourage behaviors that are centered around building, developing, and trading - positive and cooperative behaviors that are also a lot of fun.

Of course, you don't need to tell your kids that they're being educated! As far as they know, they're just having huge amounts of fun playing the Romans vs. the Egyptians in a great battle. And that's the wonderful thing about a good game - it makes learning and growing something we do for fun.
