A 1976 World Bareback Riding Champion on the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, former cowboy turned country music singer and songwriter Chris LeDoux died today in Casper, Wyoming from an ongoing battle with cancer.

Originally diagnosed with liver disease in 2000, Chris underwent a successful liver transplant and was soon back on the road doing what he loved best - making music. His work continued until late last year when he was diagnosed with cancer of the bile duct. Earlier this week he checked into the Casper Medical Center with complications from the treatment for his cancer.

Some of the hits he was known for include "Whatcha Gonna Do With a Cowboy," "Hooked on an 8 Second Ride" and "Cadillac Ranch."

Chris was a family man and spent his off time with his wife and children at their ranch near Kaycee, Wyoming.
